Can You Take a Loss of a Relationship and Turn it into a Win?

Usually when you tune into an NBA game you’re checking for the star athletes who maybe came off a stellar win the night before. Now with the emergence of the VH1 smash Basketball Wives, you may see it a little differently. Say what you will about the show, but it was a slam dunk as viewers locked in every Sunday night (myself included) to see what the life of a sports wife was really like.  Let me tell you, it looked bright but not too shiny. By that I mean it wasn’t without its relationship drama. If you’re a fan of the show, odds are you know who Jennifer Williams is. If you don’t, she was the wife of former NBA player Eric Williams. Throughout the course of this season we’ve witnessed candid conversations between the married couple that is no more.

We can imagine that it’s easy to get caught up in the hype and attention that professional athletes are swept up in, but at the very end of the day, once you decided to exchange vows with someone, it’s game over for everyone else. Or at least that’s how I view it. Well, maybe not just me. I believe Jennifer would concur. She attempted to convey her sentiments to Eric, but he didn’t seem receptive. I know our girlfriends have a way of coaching us through a flagrant faux pas.   No matter what, rule number one out of the relationship playbook is: When someone is missing in action the first step toward success and healing any relationship challenge is communication (you might want to have a little Zestra in your back pocket – just in case). If you ask clear, concise questions you will receive clear and concise the answers. And based on those answers, you can get the information you need and move forward (hopefully wiser and stronger).

What you cannot bring with you is anger – it can cloud your judgment and if not properly processed can lead to stress and other complications.  Ask yourself is it worth it? Our answer – a resounding no.   There are more helpful ways to move on. Are you able to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel?  Jennifer did. She’s bouncing back and now she is the owner of the fabulous flirty girl fitness. Jennifer isn’t stopping there on the entrepreneurial tip. She’s also unveiling a lip gloss line entitled Lucid Cosmetics.  Jennifer is also active in charities like Project Save the World that targets families in   the Chicago area on Early Childhood Education, Nursing, and Music. She took the loss on her marriage, but turned the aftermath into a W and that’s why we have crowned her He’s Gone You’re Back Hero! Right at the buzzer.
